CCILC pays visit to Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute

A delegation led by Bernie Leong, President of Board of Directors of the Macau Delegation of the Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCILC-Macau), recently visited the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and was received by Lau Wai Meng, President of IPIM Executive Committee. They made discussions and exchanged opinions on deepening cooperation with Portuguese-speaking countries.


Lau Wai Meng welcomed the visit of CCILC-Macau, saying that IPIM has been dedicated to working closely with local Chinese and Portuguese groups and chambers of commerce to promote the advantages of the Chinese and Portuguese platform efficiently. According to the content of the policy address for the fiscal year 2021 in the economic and financial sector, in order to continue the online promotional event of business opportunities in Portuguese-speaking countries, which has already been launched, IPIM will actively invest resources to create more  online and offline promotional projects, as well as promote products from Portuguese-speaking countries and Macau’s positioning as a Sino-Portuguese platform through social media platforms. IPIM will further enhance the "China-PSC Business Compass" service and launch an online investment manual for 9 cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and major cities in Portuguese-speaking countries, covering relevant news for investors such as the commercial procedures and tax policies of the cities.


Bernie Leong thanked Lau Wai Meng for receiving the delegation, as well as IPIM’s long-term support and affirmation of CCILC. These include IPIM inviting members and partners to participate in the economic and trade development projects between China and Portugal, providing solid platforms to ensure continuous development of CCILC and actively supporting CCILC’s activities, such as sending representative as speaker at the “China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Strengthening Cooperation Seminar” hosted by CCILC and inviting CCILC to attend the annual “Macao International Trade & Investment Fair”. During his introduction on the Chamber’s work, Leong said that CCILC has been committed to providing an exchange platform to promote the development of economic and trade cooperation between China and Portugal. CCILC has about 300 corporate members from different economic sectors, including subsidiaries of Portuguese companies, and various kinds of information can be communicated and shared through the Chamber network, effectively promoting trade and economic cooperation among the members and between regions.


The reception was attended by Lau Wai Meng, President of IPIM Executive Committee, António Lei, Senior Manager of Lusophone Markets Economic and Trade Promotion Department, Cheang Weng Ian, Florence, Manager of Lusophone Markets Economic and Trade Promotion Department, Economic and Trade Projects Division, and Micaela Fátima dos Santos Chan, Acting Manager of Lusophone Markets Economic and Trade Promotion Department, Market Promotion Division.


Other attendees on the visit included Bernie Leong, President of Board of Directors of CCILC-Macau; Carlos Álvares, Artur Santos, Filipe Cunha Santos, and Li Jie, Board of Directors Members, as well as Kelvin Mao, Supervisory Board Member.
